Uses

AIM DP II Emulsion Fibered Damp Proofing is ideal for reducing dampness and moisture infiltration through foundation walls, parapets, firewalls, tanks, culverts, cisterns, and bridge abutments. AIM DP II Emulsion is applicable for above-grade cavity wall applications and below-grade masonry wall damp proofing. The AIM damp proofing product line also helps to minimize internal structural damage from mildew and mold. Suitable for “green” or slightly damp surfaces.

Description

AIM DP II Emulsion Fibered Damp Proofing is manufactured from refined asphalts, reinforcing non-asbestos fibers and clays. AIM DP II Emulsion Fibered Damp Proofing has a brown appearance when wet but will dry to a near-black color. Asphalt emulsions are very low-odor alternatives to solvent-borne asphalt roof coatings. AIM DP II is applied directly from the container, is corrosion-resistant, and waterproof when dry. AIM DP II Emulsion Fibered Damp Proofing does not crack, run, or sag under extreme weather conditions. AIM DP II is a coating that protects roofing materials, metal, and masonry surfaces. AIM DP II is reinforced with short fibers for application by brush, roller or spray.

Application

Apply with a four-knot brush, roller, or suitable spray equipment. Cover the surface at the rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet per application. For added protection, apply a 2nd coat at the same rate as soon as the first coat is thoroughly dry.Apply the second coat at right angles to the first. Drying will be slower, 2 to 7 days, in cool, damp weather conditions. Allow AIM DP II to dry completely between coats. Coating becomes waterproof only after drying thoroughly.

For damp-proofing of below grade exterior surfaces: When coating dense concrete surfaces not subject to hydrostatic pressure, a single coat of AIM DP II is generally adequate when applied at approximately 1/16″ in thickness. If conditions are severe or when applying by spray, two coats of AIM DP II are preferable. Apply each coat at 3 gallons per 100 square feet, allowing first coat to dry before applying second coat. Fill in all crevices and grooves during application, making sure material is free from breaks and pinholes. Carry coating over exposed top and outside edge of footing.

AIM DP II Emulsion Fibered Damp Proofing Coating may only be applied when temperatures are expected to remain above 50°F, and if no rain is expected, for the next 24 hours. AIM DPII dries in 8 to 12 hours in warm, dry weather. Drying can take from 2 to seven days in cold, damp weather. Allow AIM DP II to dry between coats.

On below-grade foundations, allow AIM DP II EMULSION FIBERED DAMP PROOFING to cure at least 24 to 48 hours, with air circulation, before exposure to water or backfilling. Use forced air if necessary. Clean wet coating with soap and water. Dry coating may be removed with mineral spirits. Use care when handling solvents.
