Uses
AIM #SP-050 Water-Based Moisture Vapor Suppression Coating is a patented water-based copolymer primer designed to treat interior moisture vapor emission (up to100%RH) and protect against Alkalinity (up to 14pH) prior to installation of moisture or alkaline sensitive floor coverings.
AIM #SP-050 redefines the way concrete surfaces are protected from the damaging effects of water vapor carrying high pH. The Nano size particles of the material allow for deep penetration into a substrate. AIM #SP-050 dries clear and is both penetrating and micro-film forming. Designed for rapid turnaround with maximum protection. AIM #SP-050 exceeds ASTM F3010-13 requirements for vapor reduction when tested in accordance with ASTM E96 (< .1 perm).
Description
AIM #SP-050 Water-Based Moisture Vapor Suppression Coating is a patented one component copolymer primer designed to treat concrete surfaces showing high moisture levels (up to 100% RH) and protect against Alkalinity (up to 14 pH) prior to installation of moisture or alkaline sensitive floor coverings. AIM #SP-050 is applied in two separate coats.
AIM #SP-050 is water-based, and the product does not contain any harmful, hard to use chemicals such as epoxy resins and corrosive amines that are damaging to skin upon contact.

Application
- Material is ready-to-use when opened. Do not use high-speed mixing method.
- Perform a water droplet test as described in ASTM F3191 – Standard Practice for Field Determination of Substrate Water Absorption (Porosity) for Substrates to Receive Resilient Flooring.
- Perform the test in sufficient number of areas of the substrate. If the substrate is non-porous(>60 seconds to absorb), further mechanical preparation is needed.
- Make sure to thoroughly clean the substrate before preforming the Droplet Test – residual dust and concrete particulate can block pores and show a false positive.
- Saturate a 3/8” nap roller and apply uniformly in a singular direction, and back roll. Once first coat has dried repeat this process in a perpendicular direction. Typical net coverage rate is 400 – 500 square feet per gallon, per coat (Note: Coverage may vary based on substrate conditions.)
- Do not pour material directly on substrate as this will not provide uniform coverage.
- Do not allow to puddle.
- For hard-to-reach areas and corners, product can be worked into the surface with a brush
- SPECIAL NOTE: Concrete with a surface profile of CSP #3 or greater (extremely absorbent concrete) may require a third coat. In such cases, allow the second coat to dry prior to applying the third coat in a perpendicular direction at a coverage rate of 400 – 500 sq. ft. per gallon. Allow the third coat to completely dry clear (approximately 60 minutes) prior to proceeding.
CLEAN UP: Clean tools and equipment with soap and water immediately after use. Dispose of all materials in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
