Uses
AIM DP VII Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane is used as a protective coating for a variety of applications on asphalt, metal, masonry surfaces, and foam surfaces. Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane can be used on horizontal or vertical surfaces. Typical applications include foundation walls, plaza decks, balconies, beneath tile in shower and toilet areas, terraces, planters and other areas where seamless, high quality elastomeric waterproofing is required.
Description
AIM DP VII Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane is a latex modified asphalt emulsion. This asphalt emulsion is formulated with polymers to produce a single component, cold-applied waterproof membrane coating. The product is an odorless, fluid applied, polymer modified asphalt emulsion that cures to form a fluid, monolithic, waterproofing membrane for vertical and horizontal surfaces, above and below grade. The water based membrane has tenacious adhesion to both green concrete and fully cured concrete substrates. Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane prevents lateral water migration and its inherent resilience enables it to bridge structural and shrinkage cracks that develop in the substrate. Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane cures to provide a heavy duty “seamless”, rubber-like, membrane for use in waterproofing and damp-proofing concrete or masonry. Fluid Applied Waterproofing Membrane is formulated to have a high solids content, yet the product has a high degree of workability.

Application
AIM DP III should only be applied when temperatures are expected to remain above 50°F for the next 24 hours. Surface to be coated should be free of oil, grease, dirt, laitance and loose material. Dry surfaces must be dampened with water and kept damp until application.
Apply AIM DP III with a trowel. For dense surfaces and exterior surfaces below grade: Fill in all crevices and grooves, making sure coating is continuous and free from breaks and pinholes. Carry coating over exposed top and outside edge of footing. Spread around all joints, grooves, and slots and into all chases, corners, reveals, and soffits. Bring the coating to finished grade. Backfilling should be done within 24 to 48 hours after application. Do not wait longer than seven days maximum before backfilling. Be careful not to damage or rupture the film or displace coating. Some situations may require protection board. Clean wet coating with soap and water. Dry coating may be removed with mineral spirits.Use care when handling solvents.
For damp-proofing of below grade exterior surfaces: – When coating dense concrete surfaces not subject to hydrostatic pressure, a single coat of AIM DP III is generally adequate when applied at approximately 1/16” in thickness. If conditions are severe, two coats of AIM DP III are preferable. Apply each coat at 4 gallons per 100 square feet, allowing first coat to dry before applying second coat. Fill in all crevices and grooves during application, making sure material is free from breaks and pinholes. Carry coating over exposed top and outside edge of footing.
AIM DP III dries in 8 to 12 hours in warm, dry weather. Drying can take from 2 to 7 days in cold, damp weather.Allow first coat to dry tacky before applying second coat.
On below-grade foundations, allow AIM DP III EMULSION FIBERED DAMP PROOFING to cure at least 24 to 48 hours, with air circulation, before exposure to water or backfilling. Use forced air if necessary. Clean wet coating with soap and water. Dry coating may be removed with mineral spirits. Use care when handling solvents.
