Uses

AIM #420 Fibrated Foundation Coating is recommended for use on below-grade damp proofing of walls and foundations. AIM #420 Fibrated Foundation Coating provides continuous, vapor-resistant film, producing an excellent bond to clean, cured concrete. AIM #420 Fibrated Foundation Coating protects metal surfaces against corrosion and will remain flexible and crack-resistant under normal expansion and contraction.

Description

AIM #420 Fibrated Foundation Coating is designed as a multi-purpose, ready-to-use, fibrated, solvent-based, asphaltic foundation coating for damp proofing the exterior surface of below-grade foundations and other dry concrete, concrete block, or masonry surfaces and made from selected asphalts, fibers, mineral stabilizers, and petroleum solvents.

Application

THE SURFACE MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY AND FULLY CURED PRIOR TO APPLICATION

Clean dirt, oil, water-repellent compounds, laitance, and loose particles from surface. This product is ready to use. Do not thin. In cold weather, store unopened container at room temperature 24 hours prior to application. Do not heat container. Protect newly exposed surfaces as much as possible.

Apply with a brush or roller. Do not apply when air temperature is below 40°F or if there is a threat of rain or temperature below 40°F within 24 hours. For dense concrete surfaces, a single coat of AIM #420 Fibrated Foundation Coating is generally adequate.

For severe conditions, two coats are preferable. Apply each coat at 1 gallon per 100 square feet. Allow first coat to dry before applying second coat. Fill in all crevices and grooves, making sure coating is continuous and free from breaks and pinholes. Carry coating over exposed top and outside edge of footing. Spread around all joints, grooves, and slots and into all chases, corners, reveals, and soffits. Bring the coating to finished grade.

COVERAGE: This product will typically cover at a rate of 2 to 3 gallons per 100 square feet.

CLEAN UP: Remove coating from tools, etc., with paint thinner or mineral spirits. Clean hands with a waterless hand cleaner. Use care when handling solvents.
