Uses

AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating can be applied over spray applied polyurethane foam, EPDM, PVC, aged acrylic coatings, concrete, asphalt BUR, granulated modified bitumen, and metal roofs.

Asphalt BUR, granulated modified bitumen, smooth modified bitumen, PVC and aluminum coated roofs may require AIM #704 2-Part Epoxy Primer for increased adhesion and/or asphalt bleed through resistance.

On single-ply roofs, AIM #704 2 Part Epoxy Primer must also be used to increase long term adhesion in areas that retain water. AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating may be applied to TPO roofs with AIM #702 TPO Primer.

Description

AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating is a 100% silicone based, single part roof coating that creates a barrier that is resistant to natural weathering. AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating is manufactured from durable inorganic silicone resins, reinforcing and reflective pigments, and silane adhesion promoters. The #705 product is durable, breathable, watertight and weatherproof.

Application

Mechanically mix prior to application. Surface to be coated must be dry and free of dirt or corrosion particles. Clean with AIM #110 Detergent Primer. EPDM roofs in particular require aggressive power washing and may need to be cleaned twice to remove all surface contamination. Thoroughly rinse the roof after cleaning to remove all detergent.

Close all fresh air intakes before application to prevent solvent fumes from entering the building. All seams, fasteners and penetrations should be sealed with silicone sealant. Apply a coat of AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating at a rate of 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. A second coat may be necessary. Allow coating to cure, typically 2 to 4 hours, then apply second coat at the rate of 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. For best results, apply coating in a multi-directional fashion. Use AIM #705 Solvent-Based Silicone Roof Coating as it comes from the container. No thinning is necessary with this product.

This product cures through absorption of moisture from both the substrate and the air. Avoid entraining air when mixing. Cure time will be faster in humid conditions and on substrates that hold moisture such as concrete. Open and partially full containers will skin over quickly. If this occurs, remove the skin and continue using the remaining product.

Clean up with mineral spirits or waterless hand cleaner. Use care when handling solvents.
